Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Balance Together — our mental load and relationship check-in tool for couples and singles.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is Balance Together?
- Balance Together is a mental load and relationship check-in tool for couples and singles. We help you track mental load, emotional labor, and communication through weekly check-ins. See your patterns over time through trend charts and guided reflection. Free to start, no credit card required.
- What is the Playground?
- The Playground is a free one-time assessment. You answer questions about who handles daily tasks, and we show you a visual breakdown of how the mental load is distributed. You can invite your partner to compare perceptions. No account required.
- How does the weekly check-in work?
- Each week you rate mental load, emotional labor, and communication on a simple scale. It takes about five minutes. Over time, trends emerge in your dashboard — pattern alerts and trend charts help you see shifts before they become problems.
- Is my data private?
- Yes. We use encryption, minimize data collection, and never sell your information. Your relationship data stays between you, your partner (if you invite them), and our systems. See our Privacy Policy for details.
- How much does it cost?
- Balance Together is free. Playground, Explorer (account with history), and Coach (pattern detection, trend charts, partner insights) are all available at no cost.
- Can I use Balance Together alone?
- Yes. You can use the Playground and weekly check-ins as an individual. Many people use it to reflect on their own patterns before or between relationships. Partner invite is optional.
- What languages are supported?
- Balance Together is available in English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Japanese, and Chinese.
- How do I delete my data?
- You can request full account and data deletion at any time. Go to your account settings or email privacy@balancetogether.app. We process deletion requests within 30 days. Your data is permanently removed from our systems.
- Can I use Balance Together as a single person?
- Yes. The Playground and weekly check-ins work for individuals. Many users track their own patterns before or between relationships. Partner invite is optional.
- Is Balance Together therapy?
- Balance Together is a self-reflection and check-in tool, not therapy. We help you see patterns and build awareness through structured reflection. We do not diagnose, treat mental health conditions, or replace professional counseling. If you're in crisis, please seek qualified help.
- What does perception gap analysis show?
- When you and your partner both complete the Playground or check-ins, we compare how each of you sees the same tasks. The gap — where one person thinks it's shared and the other thinks they carry it alone — often reveals unspoken assumptions. It's a starting point for conversation, not a judgment.
- Is Balance Together free?
- Yes. Playground, Explorer, and Coach features are all free. No subscription or payment required.
- Do the check-ins work in all supported languages?
- Yes. The interface and check-ins are available in all supported languages. You can switch languages in the app settings.
- What happens to my data if I stop using Balance Together?
- Your data remains in your account. Inactive accounts are retained according to our Privacy Policy. You can request deletion at any time.
- How does the free Playground differ from the Coach tier?
- The Playground is a one-time snapshot — no account, no history. Coach gives you unlimited check-ins, pattern alerts, trend charts, and partner insights. Explorer sits in between: free account with history and basic trend tracking.
- Is my partner's data shared with me?
- Only if you both consent. When you invite a partner and they accept, you can choose to share check-in summaries and insights. Each partner controls their own data. You can disconnect at any time.
- What if my partner doesn't want to join?
- You can still use Balance Together alone. The Playground and check-ins work for individuals. Many users find value in tracking their own patterns. Partner invite is optional.
- How often should we do check-ins?
- We recommend weekly. Five minutes each week builds a picture over time. Some couples do biweekly. Consistency matters more than frequency.
- Can I export my data?
- You can request a copy of your data (GDPR data portability). Email privacy@balancetogether.app. We'll provide your data in a readable format.
